Perhaps you're feeling self loathing because you're not getting much attention from your Step-Kids? Ask to play a game, talk with them. According to your blogs, they seem to love you, your wife seems to love you. The only thing you've lost is most of your tongue, and the only people who should matter don't really seem to mind. It's just you who minds. Self esteem is an issue for every single person on this planet. Some struggle more with it for different reasons, most of the reasons are self achieved goals. If yours is becoming the man you used to be, then go ahead and try, the road will be difficult, the road will be long, and the road will require a lot of strenuous and meaningful forethought. This whole ordeal with your life may have brought your family even closer, Cancer does that. May this help you, I hope to god it does. May the Force be with you.

Both of the commenters here are giving you great tips. I'm willing to bet that even before all of this happened to you, you were probably the kind of person who was too hard on themselves, and had similar times of dissatisfaction with the way your life was going. Perhaps then you just had a bit more patience or self-assuredness that it would all work out, and now you need outside sources to give support and say things like, "Hey it is all going to work out." I totally agree with Anonymous, your family is all that matters and they only care that you're still HERE!

Get outside and walk before it gets too chilly! :) I am praying for you every day.

maybe you're not supposed to be the man you used to be. maybe you're supposed to be something better.

that said, exercise will always make you feel better. google 'yoga for the rest of us.' she does good dvds that rely on props & might be an easier way to break back in. i've also been rehabbing toward my old exercise program after injuring my back. i find it works to walk on the treadmill to movies. makes the time go faster. if you don't have a treadmill, you could walk outside to books on tape or similar.

good luck.
